Overview:

Tucked away in the heart of Arouca, Rio de Frades is a wild canyon of waterfalls, cliffs, and lush surroundings — ideal for an unforgettable canyoning adventure. Over a 1,000-meter descent, you’ll climb, slide, rappel down rocky walls, and jump into fresh mountain pools, always guided by experienced local professionals. We meet at Café Portela (Moldes) before heading to the trailhead. After a full safety briefing and equipment check, a short hike takes you to the start of the canyon. From there, it's action and nature all the way — a mix of adrenaline and stunning views in a remote and peaceful setting. At the end, you’ll return the gear and, if you’re up for it, share a drink or bite with your guides to celebrate the experience.

Jumps and slides were well explained and always felt optional, making the activity accessible.
