The Natural Reserve of Ilhéu de Vila Franca is located in the south coast of São Miguel island, in front of Vila Franca do Campo, in Azores. It consists of a small volcanic islet, about 500 meters from the shore and 1200 meters from Vila Franca do Campo Marina, where we are located. This place is one of the biggest local tourist attractions and is sought after by all who visit us. The boat tour around Vila Franca do Campo Islet was a great way to understand the scale and shape of this volcanic formation. Seeing the circular crater from the water gives a completely different perspective compared to viewing it from land. The captain shared clear explanations about the geology and history, which made the ride more meaningful.
